Suarez made no secret of long-standing fitness issues – with knee problems needing to be carefully managed – but he has hit 20 goals in all competitions for Inter Miami in 2024 to follow Messi’s lead and break records of his own.

The 37-year-old only signed a 12-month contract when joining the Herons, but an extension may be put in place that keeps him alongside Messi and Co. The reports after hearing Suarez discuss his plans: “As far as his future with Inter Miami goes, he didn’t say exactly. His contract ends in December, he only signed a one-year deal, but he did say: ‘I want to enjoy football a little more,’ that to me is a hint that he would sign one more year. Messi has one more year, so maybe Suarez will be able to sign for one more year.”
