Earps won the award after she played a pivotal part in the Lionesses' path to the Women's World Cup final against Spain. Although England would lose, she saved a penalty in the contest. Earps won the award ahead of cricketer Stuart Broad, and Arsenal forward Mead sent a message to the Man Utd goalkeeper.

Earps won the Golden Glove after her outstanding performances for England in the World Cup. Earps was selected the SJA Sportswoman of the Year, the BBC Women's Footballer of the Year, and the Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year, as the accolades just kept coming for her performances.

After the Women's World Cup, Earps forced Nike into a high-profile U-turn after the manufacturer had refused to sell the replicas of her goalkeeper shirt. After outcry over the decision, that saw the goalkeeper get involved as well, Nike have produced several runs of the jersey which have sold out almost immediately.
