Singh’s efforts gave Punjab the crucial first innings lead of23 runs in a low scoring match. Gautam Gambhir (21) and VirendraSehwag (21) were the only ones to hang around but could not last longenough.At close of play, Punjab were 74 for three from 34.1 overs, losingRavneet Ricky, Vikram Rathour and Reetinder Sodhi cheaply. DineshMongia (13) and Pankaj Dharmani (21) returned unbeaten.
