Pakistan made 8-194 in 40 overs.Off-spinner Nathan Hauritz gave Pakistan a taste of what to expect from its Super Challenge one-day international series against Australia next week by taking Queensland close to victory.Hauritz was overlooked by national selectors for the 13-man Australian squad for the three-match series in Melbourne and Brisbane after making his ODI debut in South Africa earlier this year.Today he showed he was capable of earning a recall, hitting an impressive 61 off 77 balls to accompany a disciplined bowling spell of 1-24 from eight overs in Pakistan’s innings.Despite an 88-run seventh wicket partnership between Hauritz and left-hander Mitchell Johnson (33), Queensland was dismissed with three balls left in the innings.Evergreen Pakistan left-arm paceman Wasim Akram finished with 4-24 from seven overs while allrounder Shahid Afridi claimed 2-23 to go with his 52 in the Pakistan innings.Shoaib Akhtar, the world’s fastest bowler, bowled with pace and aggression to claim 2-27 from six overs, including blasting a yorker past the bat of Queensland’s Daniel Payne to dismiss him for a second ball duck.Pakistan will train tomorrow in Brisbane before travelling to Melbourne to prepare for Wednesday’s opening match at Colonial Stadium.Queensland will play Australia tomorrow in a 40-over-a-side practice match at Allan Border Field.Earlier, lusty lower order hitting by Shoaib and wicketkeeper Rashid Latif helped Pakistan save face.Shoaib slammed 25 off 19 balls, including three fours and a six, and Latif chimed in with 25 off 36 balls
